YouthPower Learning invites youth-serving organizations to attend this free, in-person training on how to measure Positive Youth Development (PYD) to improve program performance on multi-sector outcomes. PYD is a guiding principle of USAID’s Youth in Development Policy. Both a philosophy and an approach, PYD emphasizes the importance of young people having the knowledge and skills they need, the opportunity to harness those skills, and a supportive environment in order to thrive as adults.
This training workshop will be based on YouthPower Learning’s PYD Measurement Toolkit, and will describe the framework for measuring PYD, share illustrative indicators, and discuss the application and adaptation of indicators for USAID projects. These tools support the successful design, monitoring, and evaluation of PYD programs. The PYD Measurement Toolkit is available online here.
The training will answer these key questions:
- What does PYD look like in programs for youth in low- and middle-income countries?
- What are PYD indicators and associated tools for measuring PYD outcomes?
- How do you apply PYD indicators in key program phases?
- How can you leverage the toolkit when conceptualizing programs and responding to funding opportunities?
- What are important considerations when adapting indicators to local contexts?
- How do you measure PYD to improve program performance and contribute to the evidence of PYD influences on multi-sector outcomes?
Given space constraints, we ask that you RSVP as soon as possible to ensure maximum attendance. Register today!
The workshop is free and all workshop materials, including copies of the PYD Measurement Toolkit and illustrative PYD indicators, will be provided.
About the PYD Measurement Toolkit
The PYD Measurement Toolkit provides a framework for measuring PYD, along with illustrative PYD indicators that can be applied across multiple sectors and information on major considerations of adapting measures cross-culturally. The toolkit also provides various resources and references for implementers and evaluators of youth-focused programs.
The PYD Measurement Toolkit was developed by YouthPower Learning, a USAID-funded project led by Making Cents International. This toolkit is the result of a collaborative effort by the YouthPower Learning team. It was prepared by Making Cents International, the International Center for Research on Women, Khulisa Management Services, University of Melbourne, and University of Washington.
