Summary

Service learning is an approach that blends learning objectives with community service to create a practical learning experience while addressing a community need. Project-based learning is a broader pedagogical approach that uses exploration of real-world problems to achieve learning objectives, which may or may not be focused on a societal challenge or community need. Both approaches are learner-centered and give participants the opportunity to practice applying new knowledge and skills through their project or service experience.
