am the founder of green nettle textile , a social venture working to ensure textiles are produced within planetary boundaries and that all that is produced are circular or can decompose at end life. africa is the greatest importer of second hand clothing, most of which are made from synthetic fibre. within a short wearing period, most ends up in dumpsites and washed to the ocean during heavy rains. once in ocean they are stuck together with fishing nets remains, plastics and polythene to form a great mass. when brown to the beaches, these masses are risky to young swimmers, boatfishing an local marine life.during my visit to accra beach during sustainability fellowship,i used my time to pull out these masses off ocean beach for marine life &safety. all we collected was shredded and recycled to alternative products.
