Effective implementation of comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) requires the intentional building of local support within and across target communities. Considering the lack of resources available on how to achieve this element in practice, we are excited to announce the launching of “CSE We Can Count On”, a document that provides actionable guidance for cultivating sustainable community buy-in for CSE. This piece presents and expounds on four practical strategies, each complemented by resources, tools, and templates tested and used in real settings, which reflect experiences and knowledge we have gained through our work implementing CSE in Madagascar. Through following these strategies, which include 1) recruiting and empowering educators, 2) building local engagement and redistributing power, 3) shifting the narrative of CSE, and 4) cultivating community and meaningful partnerships, project implementers can promote sustainability in community-level enthusiasm and demand for CSE, which are critical for realizing the wider sustainability of CSE in any cultural context.
