Webinar: Meaningful Youth Engagement in Research –Experiences from the MENA Region

What is the webinar about?

Youth are increasingly recognized as key stakeholders in research efforts to inform initiatives that impact them and their communities. However, challenges remain on how researchers can meaningfully engage youth as partners. Ola Al-Aghbary, co-founder and CEO of the Sheba Youth Foundation for Development and Peace, and Mohamed Yassein, Youth Development and Participatory Research Lead at Collective Routes, will share their approaches and experiences on how to meaningfully engage youth in different contexts.

Guest Speakers Bio :

Ola Al-Aghbary is a co-founder and CEO of the Sheba Youth Foundation for Development and Peace. She was the youngest speaker at the first TEDx event in her city “TEDx Taiz”, where she discussed the importance of civil work and youth initiatives in building peace and enhancing development efforts. In 2018, she was chosen as one of the best social solutions makers and young researchers at the Evidence Symposium for Adolescents and Youth in the MENA Region by UNICEF and in 2019, she was selected to be on the Youth Advisory Council at the 2019 No Lost Generation Tech Summit. Ola is a graduate of the Faculty of Law, University of Taiz.

Mohammed Yassein is as Youth Development and Participatory Research Lead at Collective Routes with over fourteen years of experience as a youth development practitioner, participatory researcher, and learning designer. He has collaborated with multiple regional, and international organizations - such as UN Women, UNDP, Save the Children, GIZ and Plan international. Yassein holds an MA degree in Participation, Power and Social Change from the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, United Kingdom.
