“White Dove” radio project, Nigeria
Equal Access is implementing the "White Dove" radio project in Nigeria with funding from the US Embassy in Abuja. The project, formally called the Northern Nigeria Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Radio Hub and Peace Platform, includes three original weekly radio programs: the Way Forward/Ina Mafita (A youth-focused CVE talkshow), the Pursuit of Knowledge/Ilimi Abin Nema (a religious education-focused talkshow), and Aisha’s Tale/Labarin Aisha (a drama about the challenges faced by a young IDP girl named Aisha). These programs are broadcast by 22 partner FM radio stations in 19 Northern Nigerian states and reach around 15 million listeners each week. The project also engages community reporters, listening and discussion groups, IVR (Interactive Voice Response), social media engagement, and stakeholder workshops to assess changes in beliefs, attitudes, and perceptions among local communities and radio audiences.
