This paper is based on a literature review of 33 studies that were published between 2001 and 2012 on the topics of youth education in crisis- and conflict-affected environments; formal, non-formal, and informal education; school-to-work transition; peace-building and conflict resolution; youth engagement, participation, and empowerment; and workforce development and livelihoods. Information compiled from 9 interviews with key thought leaders in the field of youth education in conflict environments, consultations with USAID staff experts as well as other policy makers and practitioners, and a desk review of 14 major donor organizations that support this field is also included
