1. INTRODUCTION

The Youth Empowerment and Transformation Trust (YETT) developed this factsheet as part of its work under the Civic Engagement for Accountability and Democracy in Zimbabwe (CEADZ) project. The CEADZ project seeks to increase influence of Zimbabwe citizens, acting collectively through formal and informal groups for more democratic and accountable governance. This factsheet is developed by YETT as part of efforts towards strengthening youth1 influence in civic engagement interventions by CSOs so as to ensure that the youth voice is captured and reflected in key processes and policies

2. WHAT IS YOUTH MAINSTREAMING

This refers to strategies that enable young people’s capabilities, participation and human rights to be an integral dimension of the analysis, design, implementation and monitoring & evaluation of policies and programs in inter-sectoral planning across all social, political and economic spheres. It enables young people and adults to benefit equally from, and contribute equally to, development outcomes.
