Skill-Building with Young Leaders - Reflections from YouthLead and Beyond
Session Description:
This youth-led roundtable discussion brings together three different perspectives from YouthLead’s youth leadership programs to reflect on how we can help young people build their skills in a world of rapid social and environmental changes. Speakers Tanya, Philbert and Chiranthi will each offer reflections on their own experiences with YouthLead and as young leaders working for change in their communities, highlight the kinds of skills and opportunities that have been important to their journeys. Speakers will then be invited to share 2 – 3 specific recommendations to USAID (and other funders and policy makers) on where investments in young people's skill building (and related skill building opportunities) could be most impactful. Questions for speakers will be gathered in the chat box throughout the session.
Learning Outcomes:
- Examples of how leadership programs like YouthLead (and beyond) can impact the professional and personal pathways of young people.
- Specific skills from youth leadership programs that can be transformative or impactful
- Areas where young people think more investment or attention is needed for youth skill building
